2. Essentials Skills: Break it up (15 min)

Lesson

OBJECTIVE

Lesson Objective: I can identify orthographic views of a 3D object.

Lesson

OBJECTIVE

Essential Question: How can orthographic views help us recreate an object?

Group Project: Square it up!

Orthographic Views

Your group will be given a 3D object. Your job is to:

• Identify each orthographic view of your given object.

• Sketch each orthographic view on graph paper. Your sketches do not need to be perfect, but should demonstrate the sketching techniques we’ve learned over the last 3 classes. Be as accurate as you can and sketch each view in proportion with the others.

• After completing your sketches, label each view (top, bottom, front, back, side) and identify some of the basic 2D shapes visible in each view.

• Create a poster with your sketches. Include a title. Do your best!
