Early Ages
The Beginning
When people are asked what success is, most people answer with glory and money, but how do we get there? What is the motivation behind great success? Joaquin Guzman Loera also known as "El Chapo" was the oldest out of seven kids. He grew up very poor, as his parents, Maria Loera and Emilio Guzman were farmers in rural Sinaloa State, north-west Mexico. He would help his parents at an early age by selling oranges, it is believed that this is the time he developed his social skills that would eventually lead him to becoming a Drug Lord.

Wives
Most of his family is unknown, since his life is kept very private. We do know, however, that he's had 3 wives, Alejandra Salazar of which he had two children with, Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo. Griselda Lopez, another wife of whom he had two boys with, Edgar and Ovidio. Finally, his most recent wife Emma Coronel and he had his first two girls with her in 2011 and they remain unknown.

In May of 1993 the Sinaloa Cartel and Tijuana Cartel were in a constant state of war, this is when El Chapos first picture started circulating and became widely known. He fled to Guatemala and was caught there later to be sent back to Mexico and was arrested at a trail for 20 years, however, he bribed his escape with an estimate of 1.3 Million Dollars.
He became a high rank of the Guadalajara Cartel run by Migel Angel Felix Gallardo very fast and then became the head of the Sinaloa Cartel when the Guadalajara Cartel disbanded in the late 1980's.

His second arrest and appearance was on February 22, 2014. He was arrested in Mazatlan, Mexico by a joint organization of the U.S and Mexico. He was outrunning the law for more than a decade before this arrest. This is his most famous escape in which he crawled though a tiny hole down the shower drain, tunnel and motorcycle.
The last appearance completely ruined Enrique's Pena Nietos reputation as the President of Mexico, so as his third appearance they decided to make a U.S and Mexican Unit to capture El Chapo. He was then not kept in Mexico but instead was taken to Colorado here in the U.S. They tracked down his house and caught him escaping in a car.

Obstacles Summary
El Chapo was finally captured for the last time on January 8, 2016 which is 6 years ago. He was captured in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, after a year in Mexico he was transferred to the most secure Federal Prison that being in Colorado. So yes, he is right now in the United States, imprisoned for life.

Final
El Chapo was sentenced to a life time in prison and 30 more years because of how severe his actions were. Societies view of El Chapo are very different depending of where you are from, for example in a interview of El Chapo they asked where his money was stored and in very short words he basically said "If there is any money, it belongs to mexico." saying that the money was not his or The United States, it was actually a part of his country. So El Chapo will die in Colorados Supermax Prison.

The future of Sineloa Cartel
The Sineloa Cartel now run by Ismael Zambada Garcia and three of El Chapo's sons, Alfredo Guzman Salazar, Ovidio Guzman Lopez and Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar. The Cartel has been doing well since the past 6 years since El Chapo was arrested and imprisoned. It is also the most active and powerful cartel in Mexico and some may even say the World.

As for his sons, they all went into the drug trafficking business or at least all of the ones that we know about that are active. His two twin daughters remain unknown, and there are some speculations of more children but that still remains a mystery. Emma Coronel was transferred to a minimum security prison in Texas since she was mainly only an accomplice of her husband.

Not much is known about her since he married her in 1977. He allegedly never divorced her, therefore they are still married, although her whereabouts are unknown.
Emma Coronel is his current wife, although he technically not married her but declared her as his partner in a gathering made of several people, which technically makes them married. She is now in Texas in a low security prison, and he had two daughters with him that are now around 10 years old.

She was El Chapos 2nd wife and she had around 4 children with her and they married in the mid 1980's. One of her children, Edgar, was executed in 2008 and another one, Karla Perez Rojo was charged in 2010 by making more money than what the treasury was being told, but she got away with it.
