birth, the baby koala is blind at first, and somehow find its way to its pouch. It relies on its senses to find its way around. The new-born joey weighs less than one gram and looks something like a pink jellybean. It is roughly 2cm long, blind, hairless, and stays in the pouch for roughly six months.

For the first 6 months of the koalas life, the joey stays in the mothers pouch and develops the eyes, ears and fur. They start to eat a food called ‘pap’ it helps with the digestive system and prepares for when the joey starts to eat leaves.

teen
The joey still feeds regularly on pap and at 1 year old they move to their mothers back, feeding on eucalyptus leaves. Now that theyre on the back they can get used to their surroundings to get ready for adulthood.

The koala will stay with its mother until the mum is ready to produce another baby. Once done, the baby koala will have to go out into the wilderness and maybe make a baby of their own! Theyre so cute omg
