When it comes to film, any idea is worth some effort! There are some crazy films out there, and even weirder writers/directors that come up with those films. To say that your idea is "too weird" is to assume the world isn't weird at all.
One of the weirdest movies out there is the film Eraserhead by David Lynch. From bleeding chickens to alien-like lizard children, this indie flick does not at all stay in the definition of normal. After his first film, Lynch went on to direct the Oscar nominated feature Mullholland Drive.
When it comes to weird films within the last five years, The Swiss Army Man by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert tops the list. This film is about a pair of men, one already dead and the other suicidal who somehow bring out underlying skills from within each other. This movie even won Best Directing for Dramatic Film at the Sundance Film Festival.

"athlete's foot is a painful and uncomfortable condition"
Get out of your comfort zone! Venture out into the great beyond and come back with knowledge and ideas previously untapped. Even the highest praised movie makers have had to, at least once, get out of their mode of comfortability to create their amazing masterpieces. Why should comfort stop you?
Recently, a film about the terrors of being silent for survival was released. This film was titled A Quiet Place and was directed, cowritten, and starred in by none other than Jim Halpert from The Office, John Krasinski. The movie hit it out of the park with the critics and is raking in the box office dough, but most don't know that John Krasinski personally hates horror films and really extended past his own comfortability to create this flick.

Original ideas are hard to come by these days, and good original ideas are even more seldom found. If you have a good idea for a script or writing in your possession, protect it at all costs. Production companies will try to buy your ideas from you and may even manipulate your idea, make sure if you do deal with these corporate entities that you leave the deal still in possession of your idea. When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon were getting offers from companies to produce their script for Good Will Hunting, they made sure to include a completely unsolicited homosexual love scene between the two main characters to see if any of the companies read through and respected the whole script. Only one company mentioned the random scene, and that was the company that produced the Oscar winning film.
