Fusajiro Yamachi was born on November 22, 1859. He was born and raised in Kyoto Japan. He was sent to study engineering and law when he was only 12 (“Biography of Fusajiro Yamauchi~Founder of Nintendo”).

His schooling was disrupted by World War I (“Biography of Fusajiro Yamauchi~Founder of Nintendo”). He was too young to fight so he continued his schooling at Waseda University after the war (Cohen).

Not much is known about his parents. His father left when he was young and he lived with his mother. He has a daughter, Tei Yamauchi (“Biography of Fusajiro Yamauchi~Founder of Nintendo”).

Nintendo started as a card company called Nintendo Koppai. It was a risky business because the country was fed up with card games since they were banned for being used to gamble. In 1970 they switched to the new hot thing. Electronic games and soon, in the 80's, home consoles. After years of hard work and careful planning, they are now one of the best gaming companies of all time (Cohen).

Fusajiro didn't face many corporal problems but growing up without a father and living through World War 1 did take a toll on his mental health (“Biography of Fusajiro Yamauchi~Founder of Nintendo").

In 1965, the card company almost went out of business due to saturation in the playing card field. Nintedo made a deal with Disney to use their characters on their cards to save their company. Disney agreed (Bogost).

His successor
Sekiryo Yamauchi is the grandson of Fusajiro and the second president of Nintendo starting 1929. Sekiryo actually married the grandaughter of Fusajiro but decided to take his wife's name becuase he thought that the company should stay with the Yamauchi family line (“Nintendo Company, Ltd. - Company Profile, Information, Business Description, History, Background Information on Nintendo Company, Ltd").

Why I chose Him.
I have always liked the Nintendo franchise and played every game i could get my hands on. Fusajiro was a genius and a great businessman. Fusajiro is the man who started a company that lasted many generations.
End of his life
Fusajiro Yamauchi died on January 1, 1940 from a stroke at the age of 80 (Bogost).
