It needs a dry/moist prairie and grows between May though July.

What does it look like?

Black-Eyed Susan has a long green stem and the petals are yellow, in the middle of all the petals, it’s black/brownish.

Does it produce a flower or seed?

It produces a seed after being full grown, and it begins fruiting around summer.

How does it reproduce/how is it planted?

It is planted with moist soil, and can grow well in the sun.

What animals or predators eat it?

Butterflies are attracted to the Black-Eyed Susan. They are the number one predator.

Black-Eyed Susan is not endangered. Many are found in other places around Iowa.
