Beginning Summary
This story takes place in San Diego,California. In the beginning of the story, Raina goes to a girl scouts event and then Raina's friend Kelly and Kelly's mom drive Raina home. When they get there Melissa, Raina and Kelly run to her apartment door but Raina trips and falls. Raina knocks one of her two front teeth out, but the other tooth gets pushed up into her gum. Raina had to get a type of cast on her tooth. The next week she goes back to school and everyone wants to see her teeth. Raina goes to the orthodonist every week! At her sixth orthodonist appointment the doctors tell Raina and her family that the next week Raina will get her tooth cast off and get braces. Then comes that day, Dr. Dragoni takes off the cast and her tooth is shoved in her gum. Dr. Dragoni was shocked!Raina got a diiferent type of braces just for a pushed up tooth.

Middle Summary
In the middle of the story, Raina goes to another girl scout event but does not yet have braces. Everyone says that Raina looks like a vampire. The next day, Raina goes to a place called the endodontist which gets Raina ready for getting braces, and they also "fix" her gums. It is a long surgery. Later in the week Dr. Dragoni tells Raina that she has to wear headgear at night to get her ready for braces. A month later, Raina turns thirteen and has a sleepover with all her friends. Raina always asks her mom if she can get her ears pierced. Mostly all the presents Raina gets are earrings. Later, Raina gets her braces. She hates them. The next day Raina goes to get her ears pierced. Raina loves them but her mom does not. At the end of the year, which flew by, everyone in sixth grade had everyone sign eachothers yearbooks. Lots of people said " have a great summer vampire girl," to Raina. During the summer it was the same basic things. Girl scout camp, Grandma, nintendo, fog, car trips, and the orthondontist. Then, out of nowhere an earthquake hit! Luckily, everyone was okay but part of the Bay Bridge collapsed! The electricity went off but two hours later it came back on. The next day they had no school because of the weather. The day after that the teachers were acting weird. Later came the Valentines Day dance. Raina was going to go but she felt sick.
Ending Summary

Next came eighth grade and it was odd for everyone.Everyone was mean and rude to eachother. Raian tried out for the girls basketball team for fun but did not make it. Later in the book had to go to a docter called the periodontist. They fixed Raina's gums. When Raina came out to the waiting arera she fainted because of all the pressure on her teeth from the surgery. Raina's mom was furious with the doctors. Later, came eighth grade graduation. Raina did not like her friends by then. She thought they were all mean and cruel. Then came highschool. Raian thought it was the same boring kind of school. Raian then broke up with her group of friends. Raian finally made a new friend named Theresa. Then Raian started hanging out with Theresa and her group of friends. They were much more like Raina. Raina finally got her braces off. Her gift from Dr. Dragoni was a box of popcorn. Raina and her new friends made it through ninth grade together and stayed friends.

The main idea of this book is that being unkind which can lead to bad friendships, but if you are a kind, and caring friend that leads to good friendships.

I would give this book a rating 3/5 stars. I only give this book three stars because it did not give a lot of description. Also the storyline was hard to follow at times. I recommend this book who like graphic novels, and are between the grades of 4th-6th. I personally think that this book is not a good SRC book. It is more of fun read type of book.
