Tsunami

what is a tsunami

a tsunami is a high sea wave caused by an earthquake volcanic eruption, landslide, or other disturbance. they hit in places by large bodys of water.

how is a tsunami formed

a tsunami is created when an disturbance in the area hits and the energy from the disaster causes a train of continuing waves spread over the ocean in ever widening circles at speeds as fast as 500 mph the wave size continues to grow. as the waves get closer to land the slow down dramatically and waves are combined together and then are heightened to larger levels reaching heights such as 30-50 feet tall, sometimes reaching 100-300 hundred feet tall thats a tall wave!!!

where in the world do tsunamis occur

a tsunami occurs near large bodys of water but Scientists estimate that almost three quarters of the world tsunamis occur in the Pacific Ocean.

how dose the earth change and for how long

a tsunami kills and damages ecosystems on land and in the sea. not only dose it kill the plants it also kills the animals. almost everyone leaves the area but if people decide to stayed when the tsunami hits they will also die. surviving animals will aventualy make more of its kind

no their is not anything to minimise or prevent a tsunami. usually befor a tsunami a warning alarm gose out and soon everyone flees the area
