The Beginning

When we first talked about the magazines in class I was excited yet nervous. I knew right off the bat I wanted to design a magazine. I have had previous experience in designing spreads from working on spreads in class for yearbook. When I first thought of magazines my mind instantly went to gossip magazines so I knew all along that is what I wanted my magazine to be about.

Research

After deciding my topic for my magazine I knew I had to do some research for some inspiration. I went to the store and looked through a variety of different gossip magazines, all which were very similar to one another.

Background info

Audience Target:

  • Young adult females
  • Ages 16-22

I knew I wanted my magazine to be targeted towards younger females and young adults.

My Idea

I wanted to target a young female audience so I thought what better idea then to write a juicy gossip story. I wrote about what I thought I would find interesting to read. My first initial thought was a story about someone being cheated on would be perfect and nteresting to a young audience.

Technology

To edit my photos I used an app on my phone called "Tezza". However to create the spread itself I used the application Indesign to put everything together. I have had some previous experience using indesign in yearbook which make it a lot easier to put the spread together since I had some previous knowledge

Resources

I used my phone which is an I phone 11 pro to take the pictures I used throughout my magazine. I also used an apple computer to put the magazine together using the indesign application.

End Result

In the end my magazine turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Everything came together perfectly and I think I did a good job at portraying the idea of a gossip magazine. Thinking of a story was probably the hardest part for me but once I had a general idea of what I was writing about the story flowed instantly.
