Use of the balls

Those balls are then, obviously, being used to play football.

Use

But depending on the size and characteristics of the ball, their uses and/or users will slightly differ.

So what kind of differences are there?

The main 2 aspects of a ball that actually make any difference are the size and the types of soccer balls.

Sizes and ball variations

22 cm

20 cm

Balls have different sizes that are made for different ages. There are balls ranging from size 1 to size 5 with the size 1 being the smallest. Size 2 being less relevant than Blackberry phones these days.

Size 3 balls are the smallest official balls used in matches for children under the age of 8, whereas size 4 is made for children between the ages of 8-12.

Size 5 soccer balls are the largest official ball and standard for all players above the age of 12 and so they are the most popular soccer ball size out there.

Size

Besides the classic footballs, there are different soccer balls that are made to withstand different conditions and so they have their own unique characteristics.

-Turf Soccer Balls

Very tough, meant to be played on hard surface with no grass

-Indoor Balls

They bounce poorly and are lighter that outdoor balls

-Futsal Soccer Balls

Foam filling(instead of air) means low bouncing. Also they are size 4 with the same weight as size 5

-Beach Soccer Balls

Soft, comfortable for foot, water-resistant and a little lighter than normal balls

What happens after a ball is used ?

A ball might appear friendly at first, however it consists of many elements dangerous to the environment like for e.g:

- plastic

- rubber.

After the usage

Therefore we should minimize the damage done to the environment

What should we do?

To do Not to do

  • Use harsh chemicals when cleaning
  • play on hard surfaces like concrete
  • stand or sit on your soccer ball
  • play with a wet ball during freezing temperatures
  • Check the air pressure frequently to maintain proper pressurization
  • remove excessive dirt with a damp cloth
  • play on smooth surfaces like turf or grass
  • before playing check the area for sharp things like broken glass
