What did you do yesterday?

Frankly speaking, I did many things, one of them is that I woke up late specially because It was my day off. later on I spent almost the whole morning at the gym, after that I came back to my house and cleaned my house because it was dirty, besides that I went to mall to buy some stuff for my house, then I went to a restaurant with a friend of mine to eat chinese food, it was delicious. To conclude I really had a nice day full of happiness.
SIMPLE PAST
The simple past can be used with a duration which starts and stops in the past. A duration is a longer action often indicated by expressions such as: for two years, for five minutes, all day, all year, etc.

What did you want to be when you were a child?
As far as I remember, when I was a child I wanted to be a basketball player since I was 10 years old and I used to watch videos about Michael Jordan. Also, I remember that I used to play not only with my sister but also with my neighbors and my cousins, we used to play on the street specially at night, If I'm not mistaken we used to play softball, hide and seek and jump the rope. Also, I remember that I used to pretend to be a doctor, a nurse, a chef and a power ranger. So, I have good memories from my childhood.
