- Sherrods originally from England, migrate to Ireland, moved to Virginia in 1636
- Joe Sherrod (her father) was a sharecropper
- Born in Bells in 1932
- Went to Memphis State and then became a teacher

Samuel Thomas Lewis
(my grandfather)
Lewis's
- Born in Bells, TN in 1930
- Vanderbuilt and Rhodes College
- Hunted when he was younger
- enlisted in the army - Ft. Bliss, TX in 1958-1960
- His father bought the Bank of Crockett in the early 1900's
- Became president of the Bank of Crockett

John Wesley "Sonny" Butler Sr.
Butlers
- Butlers first came into the country in the 1780's
- Born in a small town in Brooks County, Georgia
- served in the Signal Corps in Germany, reconstructing west Germany's phone lines after WWII during Korean War (1951)
- moved to Floirda for aerospace work in the Apollo Program after his service
- retired and went back to farming with his family in Georgia

Mitchells
- orginally from Scotland and England, came to North Carolina and Virginia in 1640
- born in Thomasville, Georgia
- met my grandfather while she was working concessions at a local movie theater in Georgia (after he came back from service)

Purpose: attend SMU, find a career in business, have a family
Motive: make my family proud, take advantage of the oppertunities granted to me (especially those granted by way of sacrifice)
