Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin was born on October 7, 1952. He was born to Vladimir Putin(Father) and Maria Shelomova(Mother)

1952-1990

College - Leningrad State University

Putin studied law at Leningrad State University (now Saint Petersburg State University) from 1970-1975

1970-1975

The KGB

1975

After graduating in 1975, Putin joined the KGB(committe for state security in the Soviet Union)

After his training, he was assigned to the Second Cheif Directorate (counterintelligence) and later was transferred to the First Cheif Directorate where he worked as a monitor for foreigners and consular offcials in Leningrad.

KGB Training

In 1984 Putin was transferred to the Yuri Andropov Red Banner Institute for further KGB training.

1985-1990 and 1990

From 1985-1990 Putin served in Dresden, East Germany as a translator using an undercover identity. Redportedly he worked for the Stasi secret police through the KGB at this time and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

In 1990 Putin was appointed advisor of internal affairs to the Mayor of Leningrad (Anatoly Sobchak)

Start of 1991

In the beginning of 1991 Putin reportedly resigned from the KGB because of the dissagreement he had with the coup against Mikahil Gorbachev, and he no longer wanted to be a part of the intelligence in the new administration

1991-1998

Committe for External Relations

He became the head of the Committe for Exteral Relations of the Mayor’s Office, gaining the responsibility for promoting international relations with foriegn investments. Within one year of gaining this title, Putin was investigated by the city legislative council. This investigation was lead by Marina Salye and it was concluded that Putin had understated the prices of exported metals valued at $93 Million in exchange for foreign aid food that never arrived. It was recommended that Putin be removed from his position as head of the Committe but it was ignored and he remained in this position until 1996

Cheif of Presidential Property Managment Department

1996

In 1996 Putin ran for the position of Cheif of the Presidential Property Managment Department. He won this election but only held the position for a year because Russian President Boris Yeltsin appoited Putin Cheif of Presidential Staff.

Major Promotion

On April 3, 1997 Putin was promoted to 1st Class Active State Counsillor. This is the highest federal state civillian service rank

In 1998 Putin was once again promoted and now he was the Director of the Federal Security Service and the successor to the KGB

December 31, 1999

Russian President Boris Yeltsin unexpectedly announced his resignation as president. Later that day he appointed Putin as acting Prime Minister of Russia. This ultimately lead to Putin announcing his candidacy for Russian President.

1999-2012

First Presidential Term

As acting Prime Minister of Russia, Putin won the Presidential election recieving 53% of the votes. He was inagurated as President on May 7, 2000

Re-election

In 2004 Putin was re-elected as Russian President for a second term. He recived 71% of the votes in this election.

Second Primiership

In 2008 Putin was barred from running for a third presidential term. Although he couldn't run, his successor Dmitry Medvedev appoined Putin as Prime Minister of Russia. This would be his second primiership

3rd Presidential Term

Although being previsouly barred from running for a third presidential term, at the end of his term, Dmitry Medvedev suggested that Putin be allowed to run again. When allowed, he ran and won the election on March 4, 2012 putting him in his 3rd Presidential term as Russian President.

Ukrainian War

Under Putin's control, there has been a war going on for the last several years between Russia and Ukraine

2018-2023

4th and Hopefully Final Term

In 2018 Putin was once again re-elected for his fourth Russian presidential term. He was 66 years old

Beginning of a War

On February 24, 2022, on a televised adress, Putin announced that he would be launching a "special military operation" in Ukraine. This was a full scale invasion of Ukraine. Later that same day he declared war against Ukraine.

A New Law

On March 4, 2022 using the power he had, Putin announced a new law stating that anyone who published "knowingly false information" about the Russian Ukrainian Operation would recieve at least 15 years in prison

The Ukrainian war is continuing to worsen rather than better still in may 2023 with many attacks and invasions throughout Ukraine all because of the power that Russian president Putin had and still has
