Definition

Definition : Water pollution is the contamination of bodies of water ,usually a result of human activities.these harmful substances affect the quality of these waters and are toxic to the environment and humans .

Examples of water bodies that are effected :

-Lakes

- Rivers

-oceans

- aquifers and groundwater

The Effects of water pollution

The Effects of water pollution :

The effects of water pollution is that it is contaminating the water, used by humans and the living organisms .The main problem in water pollution is that its killing living organisms that are in these waters , the consequences are hurting the food chain ,and disrupting the life .

Laws put in place

Laws put in place :

1 .Quebec Government Water Policy ( 2002 )

- ensure the protection of the unique resource

-mange water with a view to sustainable development and better protection public heath and ecosystem

2. Canada water act ( 1985 )

This act is for the respect of waste disposal in water.

"the minister may , with the approval of the governor in council enter into agreements with one or more provincial governments that have an interest in water quality management of any federal waters"

3. Federal Fishers Act

prohibits discharge of dangerous and harmful substances to fish if discharge can contaminate waters where fish are .

pro :

may of these jobs that are polluting waters creates job for people , even though they are harmful to our environment they bust our economy by creating jobs and profit.

Cons :

because so much water is contaminated the cost of fresh water has increase, which is horrible for us people to be paying for water at such a high prices but it does increase our economy.

Also water can hurt a country's economy because if a country is dependent on its waters for tourism to boost their economy they will be effected poorly.
