The elected head of the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (one of the largest natural resource agencies in the U.S.) and is the chairman of the Board of Natural Resources, which establishes policies for the DNR. The Department of Natural Resources has four main roles: Land Manager, Regulator, Firefighter, and Conservator. Hilary Franz is the current Commissioner of Public Lands.
The DNR manages about 5 million acres of public lands, 2 million acres of forest lands, and 1 million acres of agricultural lands urban properties, and 2 million acres of water to benefit the people of Washington.
the DNR oversees tons of resource-based businesses at the core of our states economy. The DNR enforces laws regulating logging practices, reforestation requirements, oil and gas exploration and surface mining reclamation.
The DNR has firefighting as a priority. The department covers 12 million acres of forest land with their wildlife protection and fire suppression programs.

The combined body of State Senators (the Senate) and State Representatives (House of Representatives). The Legislature meets every year to create new laws, change existing laws, and enact budgets for the State.
The State Senator is a member of the legislative branch just like a national Senator. They're elected by voters to represent them in the State Senate, where their primary duties are creating, debating, and voting on legislation that either makes new laws or changes existing ones. Jeannie Darneille is the Senator for my district.
The County Council is the legislative branch of a county's government and is the policy-determining body of that county. Connie Ladenburg is my district’s County Council member.
Basically, a glorified city council member. They have powers of city council member and a mayor: budget creation, enacting, creating and amending city laws, etc. The mayor is Victoria Woodards.
