"There in the darkness, what I saw just blew my mind
Under a cloak of black
And a pointed witch's hat
I saw a face that made a chill run down my spine"
We selected this song because it summarizes what happens and what initiates all of act 1; the prophecy from the 3 witches in the dark room to Macbeth and Banquo. Macbeth hears voices in the dark and demands to know who they are, "Speak, if you can. What are you?"(Act1, scene 3). After he speaks, the witches reveal the prophecy and Macbeth reveals what he felt during the experiance. The lyric from the song saying; "There in the darkness, what I saw just blew my mind" can be correlated with what Macbeth probally felt during this; Macbeth sees "face(s) that made a chill down my(Macbeth's) spine"
"One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
We selected this song because is talks about what happens and what initiated in act 2; the death of king Duncan, The song says "One minute I held the key/Next the walls were closed on me" and this could seen as a to say that Duncan had been crowned king and he held all the power. However, Macbeth crushes his power and murders him. The walls being closed on him refers to Duncan having no other way out. He is in the way of Macbeth becoming king and Macbeth did not hesitate to get rid of him.
Tiger Army,
Ghost of Memory-
"I wake up in the morning, I got murder on my mind"
We picked "murder on my mind" by YNW Melly because in Act 4 Macbeth murdered Macduff's family , quite literally having murder on his mind. He kills Macduff's family since he saw them as a threat to his throne. He says 'his wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls/That trace him in his line."
Explanation
We chose this quote because, Macbeth shows no remorse for the death of his wife and said maybe if she had died tomorrow he would have time to grieve for her. The verse in the song that describes Macbeth is "So cold as the winter wind How could you be so heartless." Macbeth lost everything he had including his emotions because he did everything Lady Macbeth told him to.
