Behavior Change Project

My Goal

My goal for the project was to develop healthier sleeping habits by making myself go to bed by midnight and get at least 8 hours of sleep every night.

Why Sleep?

II chose to make a change to my sleeping behavior because I noticed that my lack of sleep every night was affecting multiple dimensions of my health

Why Sleep?

Physical: Tired all day

Emotional: Feeling sluggish or unmotivated for the day

Social: Avoiding social interaction because of grumpy mood or for napping

Occupational: Going to work tired and not performing well

Behavior Change

I struggled a lot with this project, mainly because I am a night owl and prefer to stay up late than wake up early. I also found myself making excuses or ignoring the project altogether in order to stay out late. However, the next day I always felt guilty for not sticking to my goal.

I had to think of the project as less of a school assignment and more for my own well-being.

Conclusion

Overall, this project taught me how important sleep is to my health in multiple aspects. I learned that it is very difficult to make change, especially without clear rewards or punishments.

I still try my very best to get at least 8 hours of sleep every night because I know how much better I feel well rested.
