Goal

Anaerobic and Aerobic exercise

Anaerobic respiration

- Energy lasts for only a SHORT period of time

- High-intensity, short-burst activities

- Energy in the ABSENCE of oxygen

- Oxygen does reach the relevant working muscles on time

- Muscles rely on Glucose for energy

- Glucose is stored as glycogen in the muscles , BUT it is not limitless and hence we only have enough for a short amount of time

-60 seconds or less

Title

Glucose = energy + lactic acid

Equation

Aerobic respiration

Aerobic respiration

- Energy last longer

- Low-medium intensity

- Energy is created from the air that is inhaled

- Short and long periods of time

- Relies on the O2 we constantly breathe in

- Can last for hours

Aerobic exercise

Glucose + Oxygen = Energy + Carbon Dioxide + Water

Equation

Important information

The Intensity and type of exercise will determine the processes.

Glucose is stored as glycogen.

Respiration is the generation of energy in the body. It can be anaerobic or aerobic respiration.

Lactic acid is a mild poison that causes cramping and muscle soreness.

The muscles rely on glucose to generate energy for movement.
