The Moche Earspool
Moche Culture

For this part of the exhibit, I would provide information about the Lord of Sipán, who the earspool was found with. Any known biographical information along with scholarly sources detailing the finding of his tomb and it's contents.
This mechanism would provide context about the life and death of the owner of the work. It would also give context about the importance of the work, despite the fact that it isn't a "traditional" art form. The owner of a work greatly influences the meaning and purpose of the work.
While the exhibit wouldn't be a complete walk-through, it would be decorated in turquoise and gold, with patterns evocative of both the work in particlar and also Mochi culture. It would be on a mini Moche pyramid-platform like the tomb itself is.
This mechanism would help viewers become immersed in the exhibit, allowing them to better understand both what life looked like for the Lord of Sipán and allow them to connect the work of art with the greater context of the culture it came from.
