  • Fingerprint analysis includes the comparison of fingerprints found at the crime scene to a known set. This can aid investigators in determining the presence of a person, or people, at a crime scene
  • During the trial, Paul Fitzgerald offered a weak defense. Fitzgerald suggested that the fingerprints found inside the Tate home may have just been an "invited guest or friend.
  • On April 23rd, 1969, Charles Watson was arrested for public intoxication. During his arrest, his fingerprints were recorded. Watson right-ring finger matched a print on the door frame which tied him to the crime scene.

The gate

Investigating officers discovered blood and print smears on the housing for the electric button which opens the gate from inside the Polanski property. This has been identified as blood type O.

2ND EVIDENCE

The gun

3RD EVIDENCE

  • On September 1, 1969, a ten-year-old boy in Sherman Oaks discovered a .22 caliber Longhorn revolver under a bush near his home.  His parents notified the LAPD, who picked up the gun, but failed to make any connection between it and the Tate murders.
  • the grips were next observed under the chair in the living room. They were apparently kicked under the chair by one of the original officers
on the scene.
  • No one is copping out. When the two pieces were placed together they formed the right portion of a gun grip with the exception that one very small piece was broken and missing.
  • This small piece was found by Officer Granado, S.I.D., on the front porch
just north of the front door. Blood type O was found on the grips. This grip meant that the type of weapon used in the case could be determined

  • All of found guilty were sentenced to death but California court decided that the state of death penalty was unconstitutional and the sentence was reduced to life in prison.

  • Manson was to be released in parole and he was arrested 12 times since his conviction.

THE END

There have been reports that Kasabian wanted to tell her story to the prosecutors, with or without any kind of deal, she said to "get it out of my head" but she was offered immunity from prosecution in exchange for turning state's evidence.

Linda Kasabian

Susan Atkins

Susan Atkins

Susan Atkins testified that Manson was the master of the crime in exchange for charges dropped but the court didn't accept it and she was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in 1970.
