Project Begins

Approved and funded by the OEC Board in mid 2017

2017

First 3 Years

Project kicks off with hiring of the President of OEC Fiber. By the end of 2017 a Network Engineer and Fiber Plant Manger had joined the team as well.

2018

Project Ramps Up...

By early 2018, OEC Fiber adds fiber and network technicians , and later, a markeing team.

2019

Project Becomes A Reality...

2019 begins with the first live users and ends 5,000 homes and businesses connected!!!

2020

Project Becomes A Success...

- TV is added as an option for the 12,000 subscribers

- City of Noble becomes first "Gig City"

- 3,300 miles of fiber optic cable!

- 5/100Gig bandwidth transport BGP connections to core routers at ACME and HQ

- 100Gig HSRP - BE cpnnections to huts on Ring 1 - NOB, LID, WN, ACME and HQ

- 100Gbps bundle-ether connections between core and aggregation routers on transport rings 3 & 4 provides redundancy

- Ring 2 & 5 have aggregation routers from cores to LAM and BLA respectively

Vendors and Partners

OEC Fiber works with several vendors that make having a broadband, phone and TV company possible. Having Calix, Cisco, Momentum, NRTC, NISC, Tangerine and Delcom allows us to be able to grow, while also being agile and able to adapt if need be.

Calix is the main vendor for OEC Fiber's GPON network equipment that provides light to the fiber splices that deliver service to households and businesses.

Conexon is a vendor used to map out splice matrices and for planning how much fiber will be used and when.

Momentum provides phone service for the coop, and fiber as well as fiber phone customers.

NRTC provides tier 1 customer support for subscribers

NISC is a vendor that is used for provisioning and inventory for home networking equipment and assisting MS/EA with customer account keeping in iVUE. This is a central tool for OEC/Fiber.

Tangerine provides the feed for our TV platform, and support for our technicians in troubleshooting issues with streaming channels and DVR. OEC has a TV headend that was built by Tangerines engineers.

Delcom assists OEC Fiber with the cleaning, sanitizing and repackaging of home networking and TV equipment

TransTel is a contractor that is used to pull high count fibers throughout the service territory, splice and terminate the cables in our fiber huts and install service for residential customers.
