ACJ-YMCA COLOMBIA

The YMCA was established in Colombia in 1964, working primarily with children and youth at high vulnerability(children and young people in the streets), victims of violence and victims of natural disasters.

We work for peace!

The YMCA Colombia gives priotiry to its work on peace in the following aspects:

• We defend the human dignity.
• We envolved children and young people in community activities based on love.
• we follow the institutional philosophy by adopting the principles on the basis and the challenge XXI with emphasis on the spiritual development.

The YMCA Quindio

The YMCA arrived in Circasia, Quindio aftert the earthquake in the coffee region in 1999.

After this infortunate event the YMCA stayed for the recovery phase developing projects such as:

• Schools of cultural animation
• Reevolution
• Somos mas

Also the YMCA Quindio has a permanent offer in programs such as:

• Volunteer program for youth and adults.
• Social service by high school students.
• leadership training.
• Professional and academic practices by college students.

International alliances are common relationships that favor YMCAs overseas. The relationship is supported often by common goals or interests and it has an element of international mobility in both directions.

Located in the middle west of Colombia

14 municipalities

3592 square kilometers

859.666 population, 665.104 come from urban areas and 194.562 from rural areas,

418.236 men and 441.430 women.

Project to promote Peace and Coexistence among young people and train young people to become agents of change so that they can improve their quality of life of them and those of the communities they come from.

The YMCA Risaralda

DEPARTMENT OF RISARALDA:

The Risaralda YMCA was established in 1990, by a group of Young people that cared for the critical social situation of the department.

VOLUNTEERISM: 56 people: 41 young people and 15 adults, coming from several social level of the country and that support the YMCA in its institutional development through community outreach programs.
