Event: The Quiet Revolution: As Jean Lesage was elected, under his command, Quebec went through a various reformation within. The province became more modernized, and has improved ecnomically. It also triggered a growth of nationalism in Quebec.
Importance: French-Canadian Quebec citizens felt that their Frencophone rights were endangered, and there were group of people who would even bear terrorism to stop the violation of Francophone rights.

Event: British Trade Commissioner James Cross and the Quebec Labour Minister Pierre Laporte(2 FLQ government officials) were kidnapped.
Importance: This was the trigger of the FLQ crisis

Wars and Measures Act is one of the reasons the FLQ crisis began
Event: Police raids had
begun at dawn and made
30 arrests. Also, Jerome
Choquette, Quebec Prime Minister
of Justice, had been open for
negotiation. However, more threats
came in by the radio stations and had
the FLQ menifesto realease to the
public.
Importance: This event builds up the tension of the FLQ cirsis

Event: As the demands of the FLQ are being met, arguments have been made to the FLQ to secure James Cross' release. The FLQ then gives edvidence that Cross is still alive and follwing with another demand that had to be made.
Importance: The FLQ shows dominance over the government.

Event: Both Premier Robert Bourassa and Jerome Choquette tried to "play safe" and agreed to provide a safe-conduct out of Canada to the terrorists if they released Cross unharmed. However, Pierre Laporte, Provincial Minister of Labour was kiddnapped at his house by 2 mysterious figures.
Importance: From this, the FLQ crisis took a big leap in importance

Event: FLQ demands that if all 23 political criminals are safely realeased and sent to a different country, the hostages will be released. Which was a very conflicting requirement for government. Then government and the representative of FLQ, Robert Lemieux arrange a meeting to negotiate. However, on the end of the day, October 13th, the negotiation fails.
Importance: Made more people including citizens and the governors panic, and the tension still rises. And government gets more pressure to accept FLQ's conditions.

Event: Pierre Elliot Trudeau, brings in War Measures Act, which gave police full permission to arrest anyone that seems suspicious. Within 48 hours, almost 250 people were aressted, which later are found to be mostly innocent. And on the 18th, one of the hostages, Pierre Laporte was found dead.
Importance: Ultimately, imposition of the War Measures Act caused the death of Pierre Laporte, and this is controversial decision recieved many critism, an example of which goverenment sacrificed citizen rights for a country.

Event: Finally, the negotiation has ended. Canada guaranteed a safe path for the FLQ members to go to Cuba, in exchange of James Cross.
Importance: This ultimately concluded the FLQ crisis by sending the criminals out of the country, all troops were withdrawn soon.

Use of War Measures Act during
the FLQ crisis, ultimately caused political terror, and secretive growth of democratic seperatists. And this ends up in election of the Parti Quebecois.
