CIRCUIT SWITCHING and PACKET SWITCHING

when we send a file over a network,

the file isn't sent as a whole, instead

the file is broken up into smaller pieces

called "packets", and this packets are sent

separately over the network to the

destination.

THANK YOU FOR LISTENING

Packet Switching

packet switching involves dividing data messages into small bundles of information and transmitting them through communication networks to their intended destinations using computer-controlled switches.

What is PSDN?

* it is designed for transferring data only.

* comprised of one ore more wide-area data networks designed to provide access to a large number of subscribers with a wide variety of computer equipment

* the switching nodes provide end stations access to transmission media and other switching nides that will transport data from node to node until it reachers its final destination

* tandem switching nodes or switchers switches - switching nodes that connect only to other switching nodes

Message Switching

- in a form of store-and-forward

- each switch within the network has message storage capabilities

- data are not transferred in real-time; the delay time can possibly took as long as 24 hours
