Why did I pick this myth?

I chose this character because I like animals. Also I

always wanted to know at least one idea/myth of why the rooster crows at dawn and not any other time. I did not chose another animal because I read over the story and I liked it. Also think roosters are funny.

Ares, God of War, had an ongoing affair with Aphrodite. Ares had a guard named Alectryon. Ares placed Alectryon on guard to make sure their affair stayed a secret. Alectryon would specially alert Ares when the dawn rose, so that Apollo, in his Sun Chariot and who saw all, would not see them in the early hours. Unfortunately, one day Alectryon fell asleep and did not wake Ares up at dawn. Therefor, Apollo witnessed Ares and Aphrodite in bed. Apollo immediately told Hephaestus, Aphrodite's husband. Hephaestus immediately went to their bed, and threw a metal net over them. After Hephaestus put the metal net over them he brought the rest of the Olympian Gods to see with their own eyes what was happening. Afterwards, Ares punished Alectryon for falling asleep by changing him to a rooster. This animal was to crow day after day at dawn.
