The Lion King (2:52-3:05)

Developed in other disciplines along with sociology, Feminist Theory was recognized in the 1970's where the conflict concerned gender inequality in regard to class inequality (which was stressed by Marx and Engels).

Feminist Theory mainly emphasizes the fact that society is filled with gender inequality such that women are the subordinate sex in as many dimensions that include politics, society, and economics.

As people interact, it is most common for them to construct their roles; as this interaction occurs individuals do not have roles that society has set up for them.

The Ability to keep and maintain a stable society. Stability is vital to keep a strong society while adequate socialization and social integration are necessary to achieve social stability. The institutions within the society perform important FUNCTIONS to help ensure that stability. Social change over time is desireable, but rapid change can threaten/damage the order.

As this interaction takes place, the definitions of the roles in the situations they have integrated in the society construct the reality of the situations.

By doing this, the people rely on words, symbols, gestures and even facial expressions to gain understanding of each other.

Conflict Theory

Princess and the Frog (What's NOT Conflict Theory)

Characterized by pervasive inequality, Conflict theory is based on social class, gender, and other discriminating factors. Social change would need to take a drastic turn to reduce or extinguish the social inequalities just to create an egalitarian society.

Utilitarianism

(the office) (from 0:26 to 1:34)

People basically suck up to other people in order to get the best outcome possible. If the advantages outweigh the disadvantages they will keep pursuing whatever they were aiming for; if not, well, obviously they'll give up.

Social order is possible because people come to terms with their best interests even if it means by cooperation of sacrifice.
