THE NAKOTA TRIBE OF THE SIOUX

What they lived in

They Lived In Tipis.

The Nakota lived in tipis because they were nomadic,which means to live by moving from area to area. The tipis were ideal for them because they were light for travel and small for easy set up.

Where they settled

They settled in South Central North Dakota.

What foods they ate

Their main source of food was buffalo.

Because the Nakota are Nomadic, they followed the bison herds wherever they went.

They mainly celebrated the Sun Dance. This lasted for 8 days.

The gods they worshipped

The Nakota only worshipped Wakan Tanka, their great and powerful god.

The weapons they used

For hunting their food they would use bows and arrows.

For long range combat the Nakota would use spears to throw

If they engaged in close range combat, the Nakota would use war clubs with a wooden handle and a stone rock at the end

They also used buffalo hides as shields in combat.

Their main and only food source is buffalo
