The Cuban Tree Frog

Fun Facts

  • Females are larger than males
  • They have 6 rows of teeth
  • The skin on its head is attached to its skull
  • They are nocturnal and carnivorous
  • They are cannibals
  • They can change colors
  • They can live 5-10 years

Why are they a problem and hard to get rid of?

Cuban Tree Frog tends to eat native tree frogs along with lizards and many invertibrates. They can also cause many issues around the house such as clogging drains. They have poisonous skin that causes burrning of the eyes and nose.

The Origination

It originated in the Carribean, in the Western Hemisphere. It prefered the Carribean because of its humid climate. It is also native to Cuba, The Cayman Islands, and the Bahamas.

The Introduction to Florida

Not much is known on how it arrived to Florida but, it was believed that it was brought over on a ship on accident.

Frog Information

The Cuban Tree Frog is an invasive species in Southern Florida. It is one of the largest tree frog in North America.
