Eligibility

  • Information that was obtained during the assessment stage is used to categorize those who have a disability and are eligible for special education services.
  • The information needed are the results from the assessment

  • The parents or a school personnel is involved.
  • Helps to determine whether behavioral and educational challenges exhibited by the child can be resolved in a general education classroom
  • Assessments used in this process are intervention-based.
  • The parents or a school personnel may request an evaluation but the Public Agency is who the request goes to.
  • The Public Agency states whether or not the child has a disability.
  • Individualized assessment
  • IEP Team: General Educator, Special Educator, Representative of the school district,Someone to assess the assessment results, a parent, and the student (if appropriate.
  • It is determining whether or not the child needs a particular device, service, intervention, accommodation, or program modification.
  • The IEP Team considers and documents the childs strengths, parental concerns, results of most recent evaluation, academic development, functional needs of the child, results of their state or district wide assessment, communication needs, and consideration of special factors, and assistant technical devices.
