Rapid Bay was apart of the Tjibruke dreaming trail and it was where Tjibrukes nephew was buried.

Rapid Bay was called Patpangga To the Kaurna people. Patpangga means to the south.

The Kaurna people hunted for seafood along the Rapid Bay coastline.

It was forbidden to marry someone from the same Yerta or area due to the gene pool size. The Kaurna Tribe told many dreaming stories

The Kaurna People

We think the enviroment will change in Noarlunga and Port Noarlunga over the next 30-20 years in ifrastructure, factories and pollution because our future generations would like to expand our resources and land.

The greatest threat to Port Noarlunga's and Noarlunga's enviroment are man-made expansions, like the clearence of trees and shrub land. There are lots of constructions making animals flee their natural enviroments.

You could reduce these threats by cleaning up the enviroment by picking up rubbish.

The community could create a partician to ask the council to do something, or a group to go out and clean up the enviroment.

I think the future generations, our children will have the responsobility to protect these two locations.

Yes, we do think use of these locations by non-Aboriginal and Aboriginals will change because the future economy will evolve and there will be more buildings, new buisness and housing.

You could talk to the council to find information about what the future holds for these locations.

Noarlunga/Port Noarlunga

The Future

Noarlunga was a sacred burial place and it was also a part of the Tjibruke dreaming trail.

Noarlunga comes from the Kaurna word Nurlungga which means corner, most probably referring to the bend on the Onkaparinga river. Tainbarang is the Kaurna word for Port Noarlunga.

With a population of approximately 150 people, the Kaurna tribe told many dreaming stories, they ate a healthy diet and they only took what they needed from the land. It was forbidden to marry someone from the same Yerta or area due to the gene pool size.

The Kaurna People burnt much of the land to encourage new growth of vegetation and to attract wildlife to later hunt. This is also known as fire stick hunting.

The Past

Rapid Bay

We think the environment will change in Rapid bay over the next 20-30 years in infrastructures, buisnesses, factories and the shrub and trees will be cleared to make space for more buildings.

The greatest threats to Rapid Bay are man-made constructions creating havoc with the environment. Also there is alot of litter lying aroundwhich could lead to animals eating the rubbish and dying. You could reduce these threats by cleaning the environment by picking up rubbish.

The community could create a patrician to ask the council to do something, or a group to go out and clean up the environment.

I think the future geeration; our children will have the resposibility to protect these locations.

Yes, we do think the use of this location by Aboriginals and non-aboriginals will change because the future economy will change and there will be more buildings, new buisness and houses.

You could talk to the council to find information about what the future holds for this location.

Willunga

We think the enviroment will change in Willunga over the next 20-30 years in buisenesses, infrastructures, factories and pollution. Due to this the trees in Willunga will be cut down to provide space for growth.

The greatest threat to Willunga are the bike tracks, people are riding bikes through shrub land and clearing more paths to create more bike tracks. The beach is also being greatly affected because people keep leaving litter lying around, causing marine wildlife accidentaly eat the rubbish and die.

You could reduce these threats by cleaning up the environment by picking up rubbish.

The community could create a patrician to ask the council to do something, or a group to go out and clean the environment.

Willunga

The Kaurna people used Willunga to hunt for food for the rest of the tribe. They hunted for Kangaroo, wallaby and they also hunted fish.

It was forbidden to marry someone from the same Yerta or area due to the gene pool size. The Kaurna tribe also told many dreaming stories.

Willunga comes from the Kaurna word Wilangga which means Dusty place.

Willunga was a part of the Tijibruke dreaming trail.

Some environmental issues that face Noarlunga todya are a lack of waterforcing the construction of a desalination plant. Pumping water out of the ocean could potentially harm marine life and it also is taking the Tax payers money. This is a resault of both man made and nature factors.

Witton Bluff was apart of the Millawrrabirka dreaming story and it was also where Tkibruke cried. The Arts centre is also a cultural site where people express themselves.

We use the land to live on, educate and socialise. We build houses and shops, we make schools and learning centres and places to enjoy.

The word Noarlunga comes from Kaurna origins. The kaurna people are apart of the community and are no different from anyone else.

Noarlunga looks like any suburb down south. There are lots too see including a stunning beach with a jetty a giant shopping centre and a cinema.

The Present

Rapid Bay

Rapid Bay looks like any small seaside town down south. There are lots to see including a magnificent beach with great fishing spots and stunning caves.

The Kaurna people are a part of the community and are no different from anyone else.We use the land to live on, educate and socialise. We build houses and shops, we make schools and learning centres and we make places to enjoy.

In Rapid Bay you will find a boulder where Colonel Light carved his initials in to it after he first stepped afoot on South Australia.

Some environmental issues that face Rapid Bay today are a lot of waste being dumped under the jetty including fishing equipment and conveyor belts. There is also an ongoing battle with the environment about construction. Trees are getting cut down rapidly for buildings and other manmade constructions. This is a result of human factors.

Willunga

Willunga looks like any suburb down south. There are lots to see including a beautiful beach, many wineries and Willunga is host to many festivals, including the Tour Down Under and the Almond Blossom Festival.

The word Willunga comes from Kaurna origins. The Kaurna people are apart of the community and are no different from anyone else.

We use the land to love on, educate and socialise. We build houses and shops, we make schools and learning centres and we make places to enjoy.

Some environmental issues that face Willunga today are the Cockatoos eating the grapes and olives off peoples vines. This is a problem because families in Willunga rely on their crops to provide for them. The council is trying to fix the problem without damaging the Cockatoos population. This is a resault of nature.
