In chapter 5 we meet the lovely and benign Miss Maudie. Also, Dill starts to hang around Jem more and they forget about Scout unless they need something from her. This then brings Scout to become very good friends with Miss Maudie. Scout then learns a lot about Boo. This then leads to the kids trying to leave a note for him in a broken window but do not succeed.
I think the most significant character in this chapter was Miss Maudie. I think this because she shows us that there are still very good people in the world and she tells us about Arthur Radley. She tells us that he is a good person and is alive. She gives us information about Arthur that we would not have known without her.
