Best Practices for a Successful PBIS program

PSR Motto:

Our Commitment

Balance love and support for students with accountability.

  • Teach behavior like you teach academics
  • Post, teach, review, monitor, and reinforce a small number of positively stated expectations
  • Develop predictable routines (group work, independent work, transitions)
  • Strengthen adult to student relationships

How will you teach classroom behaviors?

CONSIDER

PBIS is...

School-wide positive behavior support is a framework comprised of intervention practices and organizational systems for establishing the social culture, learning/teaching environment, and individual behavior supports needed to achieve academic and social success for all students.

If a child doesn't know how to read, we teach.

If a child doesn't know how to swim, we teach.

If a child doesn't know how to multiply, we teach.

If a child doesn't know how to drive, we teach.

If a child doesn't know how to behave, we............teach...............punish?

Why can't we finish the last sentence as automatically as we do the others?

What was an effective PBIS school-wide strategy from the 14-15 year?
