Good or Bad for Rome?

Good

In my opinion, Agrippina the Younger was both a good and bad influence on Rome.

Agrippina was a good influence becuase....

Bad

Agrippina's accomplishments and contributions:

  • She was a good influence in a few ways beacause, if she had not done what she did, Rome's history would be completely different, and the emperors that ruled would have accomplished many differnet tasks.
  • She also was a very accomplised woman, and did things that women wern't expected to do during her time. She had alot of power for being a woman, and she set an example for other women in Rome at the time.

Agrippina was a bad influence because....

On the other hand, she was also a bad influence. She corrupted Rome's leaders, and was the cause of many death's. She also married Claudius only to gain her and her son power. In these ways she damadged the growth and survival of Rome.

  • Agrippina was honored by the founding of a Roman colony in 50 A.D.

  • In 49 A.D., Agrippina was the head of Roman legions.

  • In 50 A.D., Agrippina was granted the title of Augusta, a title which, at this point in Roman history, no other royal woman had recieved during their husband's lifetime.

  • On the day she married Claudius, she became Empress and the most powerful woman in the Roman Empire.
