For show and tell next week, please bring in an example of on primary source and one secondary source. Be able to explain what they are!

Primary or Secondary?

3) Brandon the bear went to a museum with his family last weekend, where he got to see Abraham Lincoln's diary. Is Abraham Lincoln's diary a primary or secondary source?

Abraham Lincoln's diary is a primary source. He created this diary during his lifetime and he experienced the events that he wrote about.

2) Jeff the giraffe has a social studies test tomorrow about Christopher Columbus, and he is studying with the social studies textbook his teacher gave him. Is Jeff using a primary or secondary source?

Jeff's textbook is a secondary source! It is a secondary source because his textbook was created by somebody that was not alive during the 1400s, which is when Christopher Columbus was alive.

Lets Review!

Look at the following sources and decide if they are primary or secondary sources:

1) Interview with Tom Brady after winning Superbowl 51

This is a primary source because it was made during Super Bowl 51. The person who conducted this interview was at Super Bowl 51.
