What is dramatic

irony?

Juliet's father agrees to let

Paris marry Juliet.

Paris tells the Friar (Priest)

that his wedding to Juliet has been arranged.

Romeo and Juliet meet each other not knowing

that the other is from their enemy's families.

But we already know...

Romeo tells Tybalt that he can't hate him but can't

tell him why.

The Prologue

The Prologue tells us,

the audience, what

will happen but it

doesn't tell the

characters.

Dramatic irony is when

you, the audience, knows

somwthing that at least one

of the characters doesn't.
