In March 2013, a publication of Verizon phone records was put to question in a Senate committee hearing. It was here that James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, gave a misleading testimony. Senator Ron Wyden asked him if the NSA collected any data AT ALL of millions of American citizens. Clapper replied with, "No, sir." Though in June 2013, files of the NSA were leaked by Eric Snowden.
It is indirectly causing panic that will lead to chaos. Even though many have nothing to hide, the idea of a "Big Brother" government residing over them causes anxiety and distrust. Many of people will believe that the government is faulty and isn't looking for their best interest and will inevitably riot and cause chaos.

The NSA collects the data from most, if not all, calls made involving United States citizens. These calls are allegedly never listened to and just kept on record according to Mr. Clapper. The NSA is also known to record credit card activity as well.
Social Sin: Politics without Principle
Social Issue: National Security Agency
Thesis: The NSA is an important social issue in our society that is revealed through the Social Sin Politics without Principle. This is evident through the abusive actions they have taken to spy and intervene with the daily lives of citizens in our nation.
"At least 12 employees with the National Security Agency have intentionally misused the government's surveillance authority in the last decade, according to an inspector general's report provided to Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa."
The reason why this is a problem in modern society because it facilitates confusion and distrust among the nation and its citizens. When a people don't trust their nation it could lead to chaos and disunion of principles. Instead of using this tool for its sole purpose, weeding out terrorists and obtaining unlawful information, it is misused for personal benefit of its operators; and unfortunately leads to the termination of dedicated government workers.
The NSA is a social issue in our society that is revealed through the sin.
In one instance, a civilian NSA employee who suspected her husband had been unfaithful queried a foreign telephone numbers she'd discovered in her husband's cell phone. The query resulted in her husband's voice collection. The NSA inspector general determined a violation had occurred, referring the matter to the agency's general counsel, but the employee resigned before she was formally disciplined.
It is revealed through its job to carry out global monitoring, collection, decoding, translation and analysis of information and data for foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes but these duties are abused.
The NSA is known as the National Security Agency. It was formed on November 4th 1952 under the Department of Defense.
"NSA surveillance has been a matter of political controversy on several occasions, such as its spying on prominent anti-Vietnam war leaders or economic espionage. The NSA intercepts the communications of over a billion people worldwide and tracks the movement of hundreds of millions of people using cellphones."
The NSA is an important social issue in our society that is revealed through the Social Sin Politics without Principle. This is evident through the abusive actions they have taken to spy and intervene with the daily lives of citizens in our nation.
"President Obama is kicking an important issue over to Congress. Now it's about how the National Security Agency should conduct surveillance and under what rules. The NSA's supporters on Capitol Hill are not happy."
The people believe that a way to fix the situation could be solved completely by government action. Some of their ideas include asking Obama to take it to congress and set limitations, or having world leaders meet and discuss the problem and decide if it should be allowed at all and if they should make laws to resolve the issue. However, the right way to rectify the problem is to assure that the NSA is utilizing their resources in a constructive manner.
"Having politics without truths to justly dictate the action creates chaos which ultimately leads to violence."
"Many players in government characterize the NSA’s use of metadata as more or less benign. The agency gathers the phone records, detects worrisome patterns that might threaten America’s security, and only then asks for a search warrant to dig into the communications content of certain individuals."
Politics is literally defined as, "The struggle in any group for power that will give one or more persons the ability to make decisions for the larger group."
Gandhi defined principle as, "the expression of perfection, and as imperfect beings like us cannot practice perfection, we devise every moment limits of its compromise in practice."
