-The difference between constructive criticism and destructive criticism is the way in which comments are delivered.

-Both challenge your idea, character, or ability but destructive can hurt your pride.

Constructive vs. Destructive Criticism

Examples:

"You are doing that all wrong."

"You won't get anywhere with an attitude like that."

"You're not trying hard enough."

Destructive Criticism

-To analyze the work of others while pointing out faults and directly attacking.

-It aims to show that the person or object has no worth or validity.

-No practical advice is given and the person or object being criticized.

Examples

When learning to drive- "Don't forget to check your blind spot before changing lanes."

Constructive Criticism

When lifting heavy objects- "If you lift with your knees instead of your back, you are less likely to injure yourself."

"That's good." -Doesn't help anyone

-To analyze the work of others at their request, for the purpose of improving the outcome.

-Point out the faults while helping to change.

-Focuses on the work rather than the person and the person's beliefs.

-When working with multiple people, constructive criticism is often a valuable tool in raising and maintaining performance standards. Always be honest.
