In 1856 Jeptha moved to Cleveland Ohio and built a mansion on Euclid Avenue
Jeptha H. Wade was born on August 9, 1811
He was the youngest of a family of 9
His father died when he was young and his mother had to care for the family alone.
Jeptha became a founding member of the Western Union Telegraph.
In 1847 he had constructed telegraph lines from Detroit to Jackson Mississippi, Detroit to Buffalo, and Cleveland to Cincinnati
In 1861 he formed the Pacific Telegraph company which linked the coasts via telegraph

Jeptha died August 9, 1890 and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery.
Jeptha became president of the National Bank of Commerce, donated land that would become Wade park, donated artwork, and even constructed an orphanage.
A chapel in Lakeview Cemetery was erected in his honor. It is over a century old. The interior was made by Louis C. Tiffany and the exterior was made by Hassel & Benes.
