Benefits

What are you doing to my BABY!!

Procedure

In this procedure the pet is fully anesthetized. The entire limb and hip is then clipped and shaved. The person performing the surgery will make an incision right over the hip region exposing the femoral head and neck. The femoral head and neck is removed and then the muscle, fat, and skin are sutured back together and the pet is bandaged.

Both procedures for dog and cat are the same.

My Poor Baby!!

Disadvantages

  • Decreased Range of Motion
  • Mobility in the leg
  • Loss of function
  • Muscle Atrophy
  • Operated limb is slighty shorter

With great post- operative care and guidance from a veterinarian, risks can be greatly reduced.
