Philip Bard was an American psychologist focused on neural functions who changed biological psychology through his research. He was co-creator of the Cannon-Bard theory and established the localized function of the neural system which helped with later discoveries.
Along with the Cannon-Bard theory, Bard also worked on topics such as the vestibular system and motion sickness. He also localized the function of the "neural center", which had an effect on later ideas of neural function. His major impact was in the biological section of psychology.
Bard, along with the help of colleague Walter Cannon, created the Cannon-Bard Theory. It suggests that emotion occurs when the thalamus sends a message to the brain in response to stimuli. According to the theory, we react to stimuli and experience the associated emotion along with it.
