Error in joining a domain

System properties window

Despite the appearance of the on-screen error described in the symptoms section, the domain join operation completes as evidenced by the status in the NETSETUP.LOG

NetpCompleteOfflineDomainJoin SUCCESS: Requested a reboot :0x0

NetpDoDomainJoin: status: 0x0

To eliminate the error, either:

1. Verify that NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.

a) Click Start , click Run , type ncpa.cpl , and then click OK .

b) In Network Connections , right-click Local Area Connection , and then click Properties .

c) Click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then click Properties .

d) In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties dialog box, click Advanced .

e) On the WINS tab, verify Enable NetBIOS Over TCP/IP is enabled, and then click OK three times.

Click " Change " to enter computer domain/Name changes

Connect client PC to server

( Optional )

Enter wizard by clicking

" Network ID " follow instructions

Click start button, my computer, right click on empty space, select properties

Then Click " Change settings "

  • 1st step: Drive C ( Server PC ) create a folder, then right click properties
  • Click Share tab, choose Advance sharing, click share this folder, remove everyone change it to Authenticated Users under ( Permissions )
  • Click permissions use full control, click Ok
  • Apply then Ok to exit
  • 2nd step: Go to Active directory users and computers find the user account
  • Right click on the account, properties
  • Choose profile tab
  • Click connect assign a map drive, L,M, or N
  • Put the share path and account name
  • Eg. \\Elite.local\%username%
  • Apply then Ok
  • Client PC do a gpupdate /force
  • Then Log off

DNS

Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) stores directory data and manages communication between users and domains, including user logon processes, authentication, and directory searches. An Active Directory domain controller is a server that is running AD DS.

  • Client PC should now have a map drive
  • Server PC: Be sure to drag the computer or client PC to the end user account
  • Go to Group Policy Management
  • Start button, administrative tools, find Group Policy Management
  • Under Group Policy Management find your accounts, right click edit to set up policy
  • Create a GPO, name it Folder Redirection
  • Right click on the GPO, click Edit
  • Under computer policy, click network, find offline files
  • Find allow or disallow use of offlines files
  • choose disable apply then Ok
  • Under Group Policy Management
  • User configuration, click policies, find windows settings
  • Choose Folder redirection, right click on desktop and my documents
  • Right click on the folder, choose properties
  • Basic redirection, type root path or folder destination
  • Apply then hit Ok
  • Client PC: do a gpupdate /force
  • Log off
