The Details
The purpose of this transplant is to replace the good bacteria that was destroyed, usually by the use of antibiotics, with the bad bacteria. The name of this infection is, Clostridium difficile, or C. Diff., literally meaning, overpopulation of the colon. C. Diff leads to a condition, C. Diff. Colitis, in which may lead to potentially fatal diarrhea.

As mentioned previously, we are lucky enough to have treatments available for those dealing with CDI. Another up-side is that not only is this treatment highly-effective, but it is reasonably priced, and to top things off, it is a low-risk procedure. FMT is currently not covered under medical insurance because it is considered to be an experimental treatment
The rise of CDI is worldwide, and most definitely a very serious infection. In 2012, 14k out of 347k people died of this infection. Luckily, we are fortunate enough to have treatments readily available for those suffering with CDI.
Fecal Micro biota Transplant is a procedure in which consists of fecal matter (stool), being obtained by a tested, and healthy donor. The feces is then strained and later placed in the patient by either a Colonoscopy, Endoscopy, or Enema.
Many adults have recurring or chronic fecal incontinence .They may be incapable to resist the need to defecate . So, to put this in more simple terms, the individual may feel such a sudden urge to go, that many times, they wont even have time to make it to the bathroom.

There are many risk factors that can associate with FMT. A couple examples of a some risks one should be aware of are, physical injury from the procedure. Something very important that the patient should be aware of is, that is they are receiving and inputting something considered 'foreign' into their body. There can always be a possibility of the transfer of a blood bourne illness like Hepatitis or, HIV
Of course, like any other procedure, individuals commonly experience at least some sort of side effects. Some of these side effects include cramping, bloating, fatigue, low fever, chills, and loss of appetite.
