Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and eternal youth. She was born off coast of Cyprus. There, she was formed from the waters as a fully grown woman.
Aphrodite was symbolized by the dove, Eros, and the apple.The dove and the apple represent beauty but Eros was the name of her son. He is better known as cupid and is often depicted when talking about
Aphrodite.
- Personality
Aphrodite was known as the most beautiful goddess to have ever lived. Despite her lovely exterior, she actually dreaded many things. Perhaps this has something to with one of her children being named Phobos.
Aphrodite's Love Life
- She was married off by her father to
a smith named Hephaestus. Though she did
have children with him, she truly loved Ares.
Ares and Aphrodite had children as well. Later on,
she and Hephaestus divorced.
- One very interesting story about Aphrodite
A princess in a far away land was said to have
been much more beautiful than Aphrodite. So, she
cursed the princess with an unspeakable deed.
Later, she felt sorry and turned the girl into a tree.
This too reveals her ways of being frightened. She
couldn't stand to see any competition.
