Workflow: Creating a Rotationally Symmetric Object in SketchUp
1. Import a profile picture of the object you want to model (object must exhibit radial symmetry along at least one axis.)
2. Trace out half of the object over the picture. When the outline is complete, remove/delete the picture.
3. Draw a circle centered at and below the edge of the outline.
4. Select the circle.
5. Choose the FollowMe Tool.
6. Select the face of your outline. Voilá!
Do Now: Some of the objects below have rotational symmetry while others have bilateral symmetry. With your group, decide which objects fall within which category and justify your decision by defining both types of symmetry.
