Daily Five
Allows for targeted teaching at students ability and needs level.
Five literacy activities, where students choose what they are doing from the five choices at their zone of proximal development. Allows for targeted teaching. Each of the five sessions is broken up with explicit teaching from the specific literacy focus of the class, eg, narrative writing, poetry, grammar.

Known expectations
Student receive a diary and USB on the first day grade six.
They are expected to keep track of their homework and assignments and use their USB's to store work in progress. Students have taken this on and are often in the library at recess and lunch researching their current projects.
At the beginning of second semester students are required to bring the required books from home each day.

Lights are often turned off.
WHY?
Three students who have Irlens Syndrome - fluoro lights cause glare and difficulty for these students to see information on the board
Side Benefit - reduction in behaviours of some pointy end students.
