Her songwriting process

  • Sia HATES fame.
  • "I don’t want to be famous, or recognizable,” she said, “I don’t want to be critiqued about the way that I look on the internet. I’ve been writing pop songs for pop stars now for a couple of years and I’ve become friends with them and see what their life is like and that’s not something I want.”
  • It took her a while to figure out her role in the music industry was probably songwriting.
  • She covers her face as much as possible and often turns down interviews.
  • Sia battled depression and drug/alcohol abuse.
  • She rebuilt herself through her music and songwriting.
  • Phil Colson, her father, was a musician as well.
  • She was also the niece of a singer.
  • She joined a local jazz band called Crisp, and released 2 albums with the band.
  • As a child she began to mimic the sound and vocal tendencies of singers such as Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder.

The Beginning of Her Songwriting

  • Sia started her career as a songwriter when she started her singing career.
