Dominant and

Subordinate Groups

...is defined as a group that has

advantage of resources and

rights in society.

This advantage is

because of physical or cultural

traits.

Subordinate

Group

Silence is an argument

carried out with other

means

Why should

we care?

If you're not white you are "colored".

Most of us in this class are of color.

The current sociological system was created

to benefit the bourgeoisie which happen to be

white.

Being conscious of societal

structure and its purpose will

help you better navigate

and change society.

Look at yourselves. Some of you teenagers, some of you students.

How do you think I feel and I belong to a generation ahead of you - how do you think

I feel to have to tell you, 'We, my generation, sat around like a knot on the wall while the whole

world was fighting for its human rights - and you've got to be born into a society where you still

have that same fight.' What did we do, who preceded you? I'll tell you what we did. Nothing.

And don't you make the same mistake we made..."

Dividing the working class by cultural

and/or physical traits are means by which

the wealthy control the masses.

Functionalist:

Creating and maintaining

dominant and subordinate groups is neccessary in capitalist system where we need winners AND losers. Might as well be the "colored".

Conclusion
