Conclusion
The hypothesis is that antibacterial soap kills more bacteria on hands than standard soap. If this hypothesis is true, then we expect to observe more bacterial colonies from the hand that was washed with the regular soap.
The purpose of this lab was to test to see if antibacterial soap kills more bacteria on hands than standard hand soap. Our hypothesis was incorrect; contrary to what we predicted, regular hand soap was more effective than antibacterial soap. In fact, there were more bacteria on the petri dish that contained bacteria from the hand that was washed with antibacterial soap.
The data collected could have been affected by human errors. During the lab, the method of spreading the cotton swab on the petri dish was slightly altered, which could have affected the amount of bacteria colonies. Furthermore, due to a shortage of time, less time was spent drying the hand that was washed with antibacterial soap. Therefore, the bacteria could have been more easily picked up by the cotton swab because the hand was damp, which would have resulted in a greater amount of bacteria colonies.
This experiment will allow us to determine if antibacterial soap is as effective at killing bacteria as it claims to be by testing to see if it kills more bacteria than regular hand soap. The point is to confirm or disprove the hypothesis by examining the relationship between the independent variable ( the type of soap) and the dependent variable ( the amount of bacteria killed)
Source of Error
As one can see from the graph, the regular soap removed a greater percentage of bacteria than the antibacterial soap.

It is possible that the right hand had more resistant bacteria than the left because the person who's hands were washed was right handed.
The top set of petri dishes represent regular hand soap, and the bottom set represent antibacterial soap.
