Application of the Technology in the Classroom
There are many ways teachers can use this website in their classroom. Teacher can use this website to reward students who are doing well in class for a brain break. Teachers can use the videos for an instruction to their lesson. For example if the lesson focuses on the topic of space teachers can use a short video to introduce the class on what they will be learning that day. Teachers can use this website to provide opportunity for extra credit for students who may be falling behind. Discovery Kids provides a variety of ways to be used not only in the classrooms but at home as well. Since there are such a large variety of science technology tools we are able to experiment with them to see which are more beneficial for the students. "My students have learned that whenever I find a new tool, I'll bring it in and together we'll brainstorm ways to use it to help us be more effective and engaged scientists" (TeachHub).
The Awesome Eats app was created by Whole Foods to try to teach younger children about healthy eating habits. Whole foods is a U.S. supermarket that provides healthy organic foods that do not have harmful preservatives that many other grocery stores have. "We carefully evaluate each and every product we sell. We feature foods that are free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, sweeteners, and hydrogenated fats" (Whole Foods). This app is a very simplistic and easy to navigate through. The age group is aimed for younger children who are first learning about food groups. The app provides games for younger students to practice identifying the different types of foods. It also provides students with beneficial types and facts about eating healthy.
Here are
some extra assets :
Discovery Kids is a great website to use in the classroom and at home. The website is easy to navigate through regardless if the student is in middle school or as young as a first grader. What I typically like about this site is that teachers have a variety of short educational science videos that they can share with their students. Currently right now on the site they have many videos about the sea and animals that live in it since it is shark week. Parents can also get involved by going to the parent tab to learn about different resources, articles, games, and so much more that they can do with their child. With so much variety students can pick from educational videos about space, animals, planets, and things that are going on around the world.

The Awesome Eats app can be used in the classroom in a few ways. Since this app is aimed for younger students it can be used in kindergarten through first grade. Teachers can use if for a short fun game for students who are ahead and are finished with their work. Teachers can recommend parents to download the app on their phone for students to play in their free time. The teacher can even have the whole class play this game together on the smart board to introduce a health lesson regarding eating healthy.
