Telemachus went through both a physical and mental journey. Physical being that he went and physically visited many places to find information, and Mental being that he had to learn how to become a man on his own since his father wasn't there to help him do so.
Telemachus then sails to Sparta to talk with the king and queen of Sparta, Menelaus and Helen. They tell him about his bravery at war and how he is now being held as prisoner on Calypso's island.
Telemachus then sails back to Ithaca where he finds the suitors ready to attack him.
